Jean Emar and La Nación of Santiago de Chile in Paris (1926-1927)
Abstract
This article studies Jean Emar's writings and his endeavors to promote cultural activities and the arts from the bureau of La Nación in Paris, where he worked from January 1926 to July 1927. First, it focuses on the conditions and circumstances that made it possible for the Santiago-based newspaper to open its offices in France. Then, it discusses the two major policy guidelines followed by the paper's Paris bureau in carrying out its work. It concludes with an analysis of Emar's strategies for the promotion of culture and the arts.
