Abstract

Egon Wolff, José Donoso and Diamela Eltit have all written specifi c books where beggars have an essential role: the beggars dismantle the discourse of the ‘Other’. Indeed, two social classes are presented: those of the bourgeoisie and of the beggars, and each of them has its own speech. Articulated speech enters in crisis in the moment the beggars appear and problematize the discourse of the bourgeoisie. The house will be a metaphor for this privileged social order, and therefore, it will suffer the same consequences as the discourse does: it will be desorganized, destroyed and abandoned.
